A poor girl lived with her foster parents in the forest She had a little black cat called Finney. One day her mother tried to kill her cat. And put poison in a fish.

The cat ate it and died a horrible death. The girl cried herself to sleep that night. She woke up the next morning hearing a big MEOW. And saw Finney alive in the windowsill.

Mother was very angry now. She took the cat outside Put Finney on a big tree stump. Took the axe and chopped off its head.

The girl saw her cat die twice now. She cried herself to sleep again. To find the next morning on her bed the cat in one piece purring.

The mother was beyond self control now, At night she threw the cat into the oven. The girl watched from outside the house How the mad woman added more fuel to the fire.

The house exploded in a blazing inferno, A small fireball zipped across the forest floor into the woods leaving a burning trail Nothing remaining, the girl followed the path of fire.

The unscaved cat was swimming in a pool at dawn as the girl was sleeping next to it. When she woke, they continued along a brook, When they came up to a fisherman who said:

“I saw your pet swimming in the pool of memories. It is a magical cat and has many more powers. Visit the great Wizard of Nonce for he has more to tell. Yonder the river and mountain up in the blue citadel.”

So on they went to see the great wizard. But the cat’s suffering wouldn’t end. Though something else wás different. The girl didn’t cry no more.

When crossing the river, the cat drowned. The girl didn’t weep, Finney came back. When a boulder came down, the cat was squashed. She didn’t weep and the cat came back.

They came close to the blue citadel, Then thunder clouds started forming. The girl got scared and picked up the cat, And went into a small cottage along the road.

Inside lived an old ugly lady who said: ”If you are trying to enter the blue citadel, you shall never get through the gates of blood, for they only open to the pure. And you are not.”

Discouraged they still went went for it. She pricked her finger bleeding unto the door twice, But the doors remained closed. She wouldn’t dare a third time.

The girl took up work at an inn outside the citadel. 210.000 blocks would pass. That block the cat bit her hard in the hand. She remembered suddenly to see the Wizard.

The girl and cat walked to the gates of blood. Where only pure blooded had passed. She pricked herself once again on the door. This time the great doors opened wide.

Once inside Finney ran straight for the fish market. The girl ran after him trying to not lose him. Fortunately one of the men caught the cat. It was the fisherman again.

He gave the cat a fish and said: ”I thought it would take you half time, If you still want to see the great Wizard of Nonce Climb the stairs of temptation to the highest tower.

The cat and girl went up the first flight of stairs. A tailor stopped them and took interest in Finney. He offered the girl the best dress in town for the cat. The girl thought little and refused.
